And...Relax | Hoar Cross Hall Review

By laura mitchell - July 18, 2018

As mentioned in my last post, my partner and I both had a week off work and rather than go away anywhere we decided to have a staycation. We wanted to plan a few days out and try and spend some time with family, but we thought it would be nice to have something booked so we decided on a night away at a spa.

I had been to Hoar Cross Hall a couple of times, and also went for my sister in laws hen do last year and it really is the spa for luxury and decadence.

Driving up long driveway the first thing you see is the impressive building that was once a stately home. Its beautiful in its stature and with the unlikely weather we have been having the sun shone down on the hall.

With it being quite an old building, there were no mod cons such as air conditioning so our room was swelteringly hot. So we dumped our stuff, put on our cossies and made our way to the pool.

There are two pools available to use, one being a salt water pool with a Nordic centre. There is an ice shower room, sauna, and hot shower room. In the pool pictured, there is the aquatic center with body jets, waterfall seating, bubble jets for your feet and the ice drop (which I am too much of a wuss to go in!)

Later on that evening, we enjoyed a gorgeous 3-course dinner in the main dining room. It felt very fancy and we took the opportunity to kick-start our staycation with a cocktail or two.
After dinner, and feeling a little more round than we did when we first arrived, we decided to take a walk around the gardens. It was a view of green and blue with splashes of color from the well-kept flowers and shrubbery.

After a sweaty nights sleep (it was hot! get your minds out the gutter!) we got up early to get some grub down us and get ourselves by the pool as soon as possible.

We had a view of the gardens from our table at breakfast and in full relaxation mode, we devoured a full English breakfast!

The rest of the day consisted of swimming in the morning, more eating with a three-course lunch (I had to be rolled out of the spa at the end of the day with the food I had consumed) and an afternoon of snuggling on the comfy sofa reading a good book.

By the time we left, both of us were full of food, relaxed and recuperated to the max. We had lapped up our luxurious surroundings and were leaving wishing weekends like that were more frequent.

I would highly recommend Hoar Cross Hall Spa for either a night away or a spa day. The vibe is very romantic and wistful with a hint of extravagance. It may be indulgent but we all need to take care of ourselves and if this is your kind of 'switching off' then Hoar Cross is there to offer a helping hand with that.

Have any of you been to any spas that you would recommend? I am always looking for somewhere new to try. Let me know in the comments :)

Until next time folks...
